activist hair

You may notice (please?) that I haven't been posting much lately. That is because I am a civic activist, and we have had two major public hearings in the last few weeks on two issues.

So I've noticed that now I am getting activist hair. (Have I been "activisting?" "activizing?" "civic-ing?" Don't know, but whatever it is has been sucking up all my time that could have been spent in the hairstylist's chair.) This unkempt mop may give me street cred, though. I mentioned this to a fellow civic activist before we testified at a public hearing, and she said, "Yeah, I went to my hairstylist today, and I asked her not to blow my hair out because I didn't want to look too 'Chevy Chase.'"*

Why hide the Chevy Chase 'do? It's assumed. The only people who have time to be a civic activist are those wealthy enough to not have to work, those young enough to be supported by parents, or those offbeat enough to have essentially dropped out of mainstream society. I can assume your friend doesn't fit the look of the last two, so even with "activist hair" I would assume she is snoburban.
