If you don't register your child for summer camp in January, all the best spots will be taken. Hurry! This is no time for indecision.
If your child is not attending at least one or two summer day camps, it reflects badly on your commitment as a snoburban parent. Being a stay-at-home parent is no excuse for allowing your children to have all that free time to do nothing. Summer, after all, is a time for children to get a jump on their peers and hone their skills in a specialty camp for sports, such as lacrosse or tennis. Or spend a month at that $4,000 music camp in New England. Or they can ramp up their fall grades through an academic summer program or tutor.
You must not let a week go by without an organized activity. But most of all, remember this: If a child goes away to an overnight camp, the camp must have horses.
